A new telemedicine initiative available through Mayo Clinic's Center for Connected Care is bringing quicker access to crucial stroke treatment for patients in the Rio Verde area.

We would like to welcome David Bacon (right) and Jerry Dvorak (left) to our Rio Verde family as our newest career Firefighter/EMTs. Both have been with us as Reserves since 2018 and now officially join A and B shifts, respectively.

MCDOT will be performing shoulder and roadway turnout maintenance on Rio Verde Drive from 144th Street to Forest Road beginning mid-May and lasting through June.

Fountain Hills Rotary Club marked its 25th year of honoring first responders who serve the surrounding area at its luncheon on Tuesday, March 10.

The Rio Verde Fire District Wildland team returned from the Woodbury Fire on June 25th.  The fire has now grown to more than 123,000 acres and is the 5th largest in Arizona History.

RVFD Deputy Chief Merrill's life was celebrated at CCV in Peoria. Chief Merrill was tragically killed May 25th in an auto accident - 3 short weeks after retiring. He will be greatly missed.

This is a residential collection event only open to residents o Fountain Hills, Rio/Tonto Verde and the Fort McDowell Indian Community.

Arizona as a whole experienced what by most standards was an historic winter storm that passed through last week.  There was a record one-day snowfall in Flagstaff.

With the general election closing fast, I would like to speak on the Fire Bond in our Fire District.  Many residents have seen the "Fire Bond" signs in our community and have asked some great questions. 

Arizona Department of Heath Services has teamed up with Hanes to provide free face masks to Arizona's most vulnerable populations (individuals with medical conditions or those 65 years or older).

Verde Cares, in partnership with RVFD, Community Church of the Verdes, & Saint Dominic Catholic Mission, has been distributing handmade masks to the community. Thank you to the community seamstresses who made this possible!

The coronavirus is similar to seasonal flu. The best way to protect yourself and others from any virus is to use good hygiene and stay away from those who are sick.

This year's pancake breakfast was a huge success - raising over $16,000 for Verde Cares and collecting a U-Haul full of toys for kids. Thank you to everyone who took part!

PHOENIX - Governor Doug Ducey issued a proclamation declaring February 14, 2019 Arizona Statehood Day and issued this statement:

The Rio Verde Fire District began staffing a two-person paramedic truck at the Verde River maintenance yard at 178th St. and Rio Verde Dr. on September 3rd.

Even though we couldn't throw the party we wanted during social distancing, we weren't going to let this momentous occasion pass without a celebration!

At its 02/24/20 public meeting, the RVFD Fire Board unanimously approved moving forward with a bond to be placed on the November ballot.

“Arizona honors the many firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty,” said Gov. Doug Ducey in a news release.

On National Pet Fire Safety Day, it's important to remember to include your furry family members into your emergency plan should a fire ever occur & Fido needs to find a way out.

We recently replaced our 22 year old back up ambulance with a newer model.

Deputy Chief Eric Merrill retired today with over 40 years of dedicated service.  Congratulations, Eric!  Rio Verde Fire District wishes you the happiest of retirements.

Annual Free Pancake Breakfast at the RVFD Fire Station on Saturday, December 1st from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The Pancake Breakfast will also be a location for Operation Santa Claus.
